Taste the Wines of Wolseley, Cape Winelands

The wines of Wolseley are grown and produced on the slopes of majestic mountains and tucked into secluded valleys. Just 90 minutes from Cape Town and accessed via breathtaking mountain passes, Wolseley is along the Cape Route 62, the longest wine route in the Western Cape. Part of the Breedekloof district, the area is characterised by vineyards which flourish on alluvial valley soils with adequate drainage as they rest on a bed of river stones. The area covers a large proportion of the Breede River Valley and its tributaries. Visitors to the valley can enjoy a wide range of wines from the various estates.

Bergsig Estate

Bergsig Estate is situated in the Breede River Valley in South Africa, about 110 km from Cape Town. This is where the Drakenstein and Hex River Mountains meet, creating such scenic surroundings that the farm was named “Bergsig”, meaning “mountain view”. Bergsig is a proud member of WOSA (Wines of South Africa) www.wosa.co.za and is part of the unique Breedekloof geographic area.

Open Mondays - Fridays: 08:00 to 17:00 / Saturdays 09:00 to 16:00.

Monks Gin

Driven by their love of their picturesque valley and their passion for African botanicals, Nic and Di began the MONKS journey by building South Africa’s first off-grid distillery late in 2018. Inspired by 11th century Benedictine monks, who were the first to distil in copper alembic pot stills, the couple have woven history and authenticity into the design and production of their premium elixirs. Home to a range of endemic botanicals and fed by crystal-clear mountain water, the farm is where the alchemy of gin happens. It is here where they turn simple into sublime and base into bliss. It’s an obsession that has seen the MONKS gins being praised and awarded both locally and internationally and means that every sip is a taste of the truly miraculous.
