60 km Route
Lots of climbing, has an ascent of 1000m. Technical descent to Waterval.
The route follows farm tracks through local orchards, meeting the famous Waterval Mountains, with the epic climb of Kluitjieskraal Pass lying in wait for the 60km riders. After climbing the Kluitjieskraal Pass, the route skirts the Suurvlakte Plateau before climbing out of the valley to descend the sometimes loose, rocky jeep track to the Waterfall crossing, where the rider could get wet depending on the depth of the river. Return via the lower forestry land and a few last energy-sapping undulations.
The 60km route is for experienced Mountain bike riders but do-able with adequate fitness levels.
40 Km Route
Climbing with an ascent of 600m. Mostly farm and jeeptrack and not too technical.
After splitting from long route before the Kluitjieskraal climb, the 40 km follows a climbing jeeptrack and various loops along the side of the mountain in the Kluitjieskraal Forest land before returning to Mountain Ridge through more local farmland.
28 km Route
250m ascent, not technical.
This route follows the same as the 60km and 40km until the Waterval Mountains where it traverses the Kluitjieskraal state forest, before returning to the venue. The flattish 28km route is aimed at the more inexperienced rider and returns from the bottom of Kluitjieskraal via farm roads and orchards.
This is aimed at the less experienced cyclist, but does have a few sharp climbs.
